New School Hall

I went in to see the New Hall and discuss the various markings to be put down. It is a fantastic facility and should enable great development across the age range. Mr Lavis and I discussed which lines should be put down and which colours could be used. The size of the Hall should allow for football, hockey, basketball, netball, badminton, tennis, volleyball to name but a few. Any coaches out there?Mr Lavis also gave me a whistle stop tour of the 'new' classrooms. They are fantastically large, airy and very light, quite a contrast to the mobile classrooms. Both staff and pupils must be getting quite excited.

We are sailing!

What a fantastic day! Sun, sand and sea! Today I went with Year 4 on a trip to the Jurassic Coast. First of all we searched for fossils on Weymouth Beach, the children were given brushes and had to hunt for fossils in the sand boxes. They were fascinated to discover different fossils under the sand. We also did moulds by pressing plastacine into fossils. Next we went to the pier to catch our boats. We were advised to put on our waterproofs then we all had life jackets, some of us needed extra large over all the layers! My group had to clamber over everyone elses boat to reach our sailing boat, that was entertaining! We all had a great time in our boat, we took turns steering the boat and turning it. We were shown how to reel in and release the sail to manoeuvre the boat. The children absolutely loved it, we were all smiling and laughing. Especially when the sea spray covered us all! It is one of the best school trips I have had the pleasure to go on. Well Done Year 4.

Tour of New Build

Attended the Building Update Meeting on 13th August. Everything is going to plan for the hand over of the new build on the 14th October. I was then lucky enough to get a tour of the new build, it is going to be amazing. There is so much room, and the outside space around the new classrooms is such an added bonus.
On the 3rd September I was able to go around the new build again and the stairs up to the library area had been installed. The space upstairs is so bright and airy, the view over the field is great, the children are going to be so lucky to have such an amazing library area. The new hall is massive with lots of extra storage, which is great as I'm responsible for keeping PE storage tip top!
