Enterprise week

It was great to see the kids getting involved with Enterprise week.  Some good pitches at the Friday morning assembly prior to selling everything they had made later that day.

I myself presented to Year 6 about my work and job (Engineering Manager).  Not as easy presenting to a set of year 6 children as it is a group of engineers, but with a few props and a couple of willing volunteers from the class everything seemed to go ok.  They seemed to enjoy it and I did too to be honest – may well even see one of them join our work force on an apprenticeship or something in years to come.

Well done to everyone for their part in making Enterprise Week such a success.

Year 6 Netball Festival

How lovely to watch Year 6 Netball Festival this afternoon, despite the cold and raining conditions the girls played with grit and determination never giving up.

The tournament ended with the team coming a very impressive 3rd place.

Well done Year 6 Netball team and Mrs Thomas

Enterprise Week

How busy the children and teachers have been this week which resulted in such lovely products being made.  This Fridays assembly each class advertised their products ready for selling to the other children in the afternoon

Reception made terrific dinosaur biscuits, mobiles and badges.
Year 1 continued with their Victorian theme and made toys such as cup toys and dolls and advertised them by great posters
Year 2 made windmills and spinners which kept there 'moving and motion' theme and they told us how fantastic they were by clever jingles.
Year 3 chocolate truffles looked gorgeous and the children's adverts they made were very entertaining.
Year 4s lavender pillows promoted Fair Trade and produced an outstanding product.
Year 5 battled with technology but the live adverts promoting their jam were first rate and all the children performed brilliantly, I am sure the jam will taste as good as their advertising!
and finally Year 6 made boxes, all different kinds for all different storage uses.

A very successful week with hopefully lots of money being raised in a very productive and educational way.

Enterprise Week Year 4

Exciting times in class this week. The children are thoroughly enjoying planning, researching and making their products. I cannot wait to see what treasures they will bring home Friday. Even though they would have preferred not to be doing spellings with me. Excellent results achieved as ever. Emma Willson Parent Governor

Assembly 1st February 2013

Yet again Year 2 amazed us when they told us about their work on Traditional Tales.
They wrote their own versions where the good characters became bad and the bad good.
We watched their animated stories on laptops...............wow......what great achievements!

Then they showed us moving toys that they had made but that was not all------------------
they finished off with a gymnastic display that they are preparing for a Gymnastic Festival.
Brilliant balances!

After assembly while the parents were looking at the children's work we were treated to tea and biscuits.
Not any old biscuits but biscuits decorated with symmetrical patterns.

The children and staff have worked hard to produce such varied examples of curriculum learning.
I can't wait to see and hear what learning they will achieve in the summer term!
