This is my first blog on the Governors website as a Parent Governor, so i wanted to let you know about some of the exciting activities the classes have been working on this school term.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Mr Osborne [Year 5] and Miss King [Year 6] for the time they have allowed me to spend in their classrooms, as a Parent Governor.
It has been a wonderful experience working with the children on the various classroom activities.
I have helped build Ferris Wheel's with Year 5, and some fantastic models are now on display in the classroom for all to see. I have learnt some new amazing NEW facts about Astronauts and Space Travel from the time i spent with Year 6 today.
On the whole the children seem to be thriving and enjoying all aspects of the lessons taught from literacy, numeracy, writing and reading.
It's also good to see them have fun during the exercise activity time in the mornings.
That's it for now! I'll post another blog at the end of term.

The Astro Turf
The new surface is a fantastic hit with pupils using it before, during and after school.
Active time
It's fantastic to see the school particpating in physical activity for 20 minutes every morning. The pupils enjoy the physical aspect as well as the skill development. Many of them are then using their new or developing skills during lunch time.

PE Equipment
As PE governor I did an inventory on Wednesday. The equipment is stored in 2 new cupboards in the hall, which have fancy motion sensor lights that come on when you enter the cupboards. However, when you stand still counting footballs in the cupboard the lights have a habit of suddenly going off! I learnt from this and didn't stand still for too long! I found the ball pump and pumped up footballs, rugby balls, netballs and soft indoor balls. Needless to say I was in the cupboards for a while! We are waiting for some more storage cages then I will hopefully give everything a place to stay with a label marking its home. That way the cupboard should stay tidy and safe, with everyone knowing where to find equipment! ( Well thats the plan!)

Volleyball
I am doing volleyball club after school on Wednesdays this term with Miss Robinson the Year 5 teacher. The children have had great fun learning new skills and how to hit/pass the ball properly, as have I! This week Miss Robinson held the net as the posts for it have not yet arrived! It is a really good, fun club that is getting the children fit. Can't wait to see what is in store for next week.

New School Hall
I went in to see the New Hall and discuss the various markings to be put down. It is a fantastic facility and should enable great development across the age range. Mr Lavis and I discussed which lines should be put down and which colours could be used. The size of the Hall should allow for football, hockey, basketball, netball, badminton, tennis, volleyball to name but a few. Any coaches out there?Mr Lavis also gave me a whistle stop tour of the 'new' classrooms. They are fantastically large, airy and very light, quite a contrast to the mobile classrooms. Both staff and pupils must be getting quite excited.
