We are sailing!

What a fantastic day! Sun, sand and sea! Today I went with Year 4 on a trip to the Jurassic Coast. First of all we searched for fossils on Weymouth Beach, the children were given brushes and had to hunt for fossils in the sand boxes. They were fascinated to discover different fossils under the sand. We also did moulds by pressing plastacine into fossils. Next we went to the pier to catch our boats. We were advised to put on our waterproofs then we all had life jackets, some of us needed extra large over all the layers! My group had to clamber over everyone elses boat to reach our sailing boat, that was entertaining! We all had a great time in our boat, we took turns steering the boat and turning it. We were shown how to reel in and release the sail to manoeuvre the boat. The children absolutely loved it, we were all smiling and laughing. Especially when the sea spray covered us all! It is one of the best school trips I have had the pleasure to go on. Well Done Year 4.
